As a kid, I was obsessed with Slush Puppies. That vibrant blue, artificially sweet cup of ice was a highlight in my eyes and a definite spike in my energy levels. However, parents should know by now that feeding your kids a load of E numbers isn’t the way forward, so why not try a Slush Puppy inspired beverage? My blueberry and lime slush is inspired by my childhood fave minus all the teeth rotting ingredients. Of course this a super easy recipe you can make with your kids, but is also great to serve you and some pals on a hot summers day.
Blueberry and lime is one of my favourite flavours and has featured on the blog in the form of my gorgeous chia jam. This flavour combo topped off with some mint is just heaven to the taste buds. Mix up the flavours a little? Why not try lemon juice instead of lime, topped off with a sprinkle of lavender OR with swap the blueberries with blackberries.
What makes these kind of recipes great is the flexibility. You can easily experiment with the flavours you like, keeping to the measurements.
If you don’t have a high speed blender, make sure that you crush the ice slightly before blending. This just gives the blender less work!
I’d love you to give this summer cooler a go. Let me know what you think!
